It has taken me a couple of days to come down from this Obama high. I am so thrilled that Barack Obama is the new President of the United States of America. As I mentioned before, we hosted a fabulous election party with 35 of our closest friends. The fiesta was a complete success, great food, tasty wine (and sangria - thanks, Red), and a clear victory by our new inspirational leader.
During the acceptance speech, I couldn't help but tear up. I felt so much emotion, mainly because I am experiencing a renewed hope for the future of this country. I was equally impressed with the class and sincerity of McCain's concession speech, a true American hero. During the speeches, all 35 of us crowded around the television in complete silence. One of the most touching parts of the entire experience was witnessing the reactions from around the world to Obama's win. It was the first time in many years that I felt that the rest of the world was united with us once again.

The perfect evening concluded with Stephanie and I lounging in the hammock and catching the coconut bandit (aka Jeff) red-handed, stealing a coconut from our tree.
What an incredible part of history to witness! One day we'll tell our children about this election and the great vision of hope that Obama represented for us. I have never been so proud to be an American.
