Mando and Mom arrived on Thursday (which is why I've been particularly bad about writing this week - there was a lot to do in preparation for their arrival). We've been having a blast.
On Thursday night we grilled out in the yard and watched old home videos. Some were downright hilarious and many clips brought tears to our eyes. Mom found a video from 1954 that was filmed with an old camera, no sound and fuzzy video - Mom was tiny, only two years old. I got to see Mamaw and Papaw when they were young; you can imagine, that's when the tears started flowing.
Last night we all ventured out to support Stephanie in her Heeb Storytelling event. She did an amazing job and made us laugh until we couldn't breathe. It was a really dark room so my pictures didn't come out too well - below you'll see a poor-quality pic with one of the other speakers of the evening.
After the event, we went to get a bite on Lincoln Road and then ventured to this fabulous little wine bar on Espanola way. It's called Cavas and it's unlike any wine bar you've ever seen before; it's set up in a way that you can try any wine you want with the use of a nifty machine. You pre-pay a debit card in advance and put your glass under one of the hundreds of spouts and with a push of a button, you can elect to try a shot, half glass or full glass of whichever wine you fancy. I knew that they would love the place. It's one of my fave spots on the beach.
After Cavas, Amanda and I stayed out to partake in a little bit more South Beach fun. We hadn't gone out together (just us) in years - so it was long overdue. We had so much fun - we didn't come home until 5 a.m - we went out dancing and, before we knew it, the sun was starting to come up.
And the funniest thing is that that's one of the tamer photos!
