Ben's parents got into town yesterday and we've been enjoying relaxing and spending some QT together. Part of this QT involved watching childhood videos of Ben (we are preparing a surprise for the wedding!). He. Was. A. Ham. It's funny, we were watching clips of him and I came to the realization that we have seen old clips of me doing the exact same things - we are meant to be. :)
As I watched him I thought of two things:
1) He was absolutely adorable, and
2) I wondered what I might have been doing at the exact moment he was rolling around on the floor at 8 years old and singing to the camera... I would have been 5 years old, somewhere in KY - probably at a dance recital, swimming in the pool or catching critters in the backyard...
It's funny how the lives of two people who, at one point, lived so far away from one another eventually come together - it's one of those unexpected and beautiful surprises in life.
One of my favorite parts of watching the videos was seeing Ben at about 16 playing Blues guitar. I know that I am biased, but he was really incredible. I've heard him play on the acoustic a million times and knew that he was really talented, but there was something about watching him tear the house down on the electric guitar that was awesome. If I would have been in the audience on that night, I would have undoubtedly been the giddy little girl with a major crush on the guitarist. What is it about men who play an instrument? It automatically takes a person up on the hottie scale at least 4 or 5 points ;) Of course, I think Ben is the ultimate hottie - guitar or not.
Ben played with a talented Blues Band on the Cape with 3 older men and was INCREDIBLE. I am now trying to convince him to start playing again and assured him that I would be his band "groupie." This morning I woke up to the sound of him strumming on the acoustic... hopefully he has gotten the bug!
Watching the videos, I felt incredibly lucky that I am marrying Mr. Beni Hendrix Coppelman - let's convince him to jam out during the reception!
next party we're getting benji drunk enough to roll out the guitar. i mean if he can drill coconuts at 1 a.m., anything is possible!
