I've been meaning to write about this for a week, but didn't have any photos and decided to settle on a photo from an entirely different occasion.
A few days after we returned from KY, Bruddo (Brad - my bro-in-law) and Eddie (Bruddo's dad) came to Miami to depart for a Lynrd Skynrd cruise. They flew into Miami on Wednesday and left on Thursday from the port that's right by our house. After they flew in, Ben and I went to get them at the hotel they were staying at - we tried to convince them to stay with us, but the cruise ppl had recommended that they stay with the rest of the passengers at the hotel so that they were together for the shuttle bus to the port the next day.
We left here to go pick them up so that we could cook out at the casa. They stayed in the middle of NOWHERE (aka Doral) - even my GPS was confused. Ben will tell you that I can't get out of a straight driveway with my GPS - and in this case, neither could he. We both were twisted and turned around - but eventually made it to their hotel which was named something entirely different than we (or even they) were told.
As we pulled into the front of the hotel, it was packed. People were everywhere - and not just anyone, but a crowd unlike anything I've ever seen before .... and these people were also to be their fellow passengers on the cruise. We're talkin' confederate flags hanging in the hotel windows (apparently some can't travel without) and the longest mullets I've ever seen. But - mullet or no mullet, I bet no one can party like them!
When Bruddo and Eddie emerged from this crowd to get into the car, it was hilarious - two men in collared-shirts and dress pants with their blackberry phones strapped to their hips. Apparently everyone assumed that they were there for a business meeting and laughed out loud when they assured them that they were joining them for the cruise.
They came by the house and we had such a good time. It was nice to see Bruddo so soon after leaving KY - especially because it is always so hard to leave. Below is a pic of Bruddo over Christmas with his favorite niece, Ishka, on his lap.
Yeah!!!!!!!!! I finally made the site. I can't believe it. It only took a little whining to Mando to do it, but I made it. Thanks for showing us around the town and for dinner. Everything was great. Even the veggie burgers were tasty. I love your new place and hope I can stay longer next time. Love you both!
